dsc01304-300x187 What is Crocs?

For quite some time, I have been looking for a comfortable sandals or flip flops because I dont like to wear high heeled shoes, stilletos, and closed shoes. I like to walk around in open sandals or flip flops which is more comfortable to wear.

When I went to Trinoma Mall in Quezon City to meet my friend, I was so happy to find a Crocs store near the escalator in the 2nd floor of the mall. I spent some time choosing the best design and color, since I was the only customer at that early time, ( they just opened at 10am) I had a chance to take some photos for my blog.

Crocs come in a variety of styles. They are usually manufactured in China, but they are also made in Florida, Mexico, Romania, Italy, Brazil, Bosnia and Canada.

The shoes are produced in a wide array of colors depending on the model. The Beach and Cayman styles are available in more than 20 colors; most other styles are produced in a palette of four to six colors or two-color combinations.

Crocs Inc. is a shoe manufacturer founded by entrepreneur George B. Boedecker., Jr to produce and distribute a plastic clog originally acquired from a Canadian company. Originally developed as a Spa Shoe, the first model, the Crocs Beach, was unveiled in November 2002 at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, selling out the 200 pairs produced at that time.

dsc01303-300x225 What is Crocs?

Original Crocs in Philippines are a bit expensive ranging from P1,500 to P2,500 ($35- $55). I was hesitant at first, I have been a fan of night markets, “tyangge” and bargain street stores, but then I was tired of suffering from flat foot and flat hard shoes, so I think it would just be fair if I treat my feet to a slip-resistant, non-marking sole, and soft, comfortable sandals.

It has small tiny humps which massage your feet so I can wear it anywhere, all the time. This is my first crocs, so I love it. Crocs are also available for men and children.

On our last day in Subic, we passed by at the Subic Le Mans Go Kart located beside Bicentennial Park, Rizal Highway, at Subic Bay Freeport Zone. I was with my family, my 2 teenage boys, my nieces and my Aunt. We arrived a bit early so we waited until they opened at 9:30am. While waiting, we run to the lagoon park just beside the Go Kart Track. When the cashier window opened in Go Kart, we were all so excited, we are the only customers at that time, so we really enjoyed the ride. The fee is 400 pesos per person for 10 laps. It was our first time to go on karting, but we found it easy to learn how to drive it. Our youngest driver is Julia, my 11 year old niece. The Boys Team are my sons Adrian and Royce, my nephews Paige and Luigi. The Girls Team on the picture are only Julia and Kissy. The younger girls only joined the photo session. They are all my nieces.

When I was still working on the ship, my friends say that I have a gift of touch. Whenever my cabinmate has a headache or muscle pain, I will give her head massage or back massage. I like looking for the tight muscle points and giving it pressure. I am happy when I am doing it,  I also feel calm after giving a massage because of my breathing techniques.  To increase my knowledge, I even enrolled in a Short Massage Lessons in Manila, the school is run by Physical Therapists.
So whenever I go to spa or massage clinics, I understand what my masseuse is doing to me and I enjoy every minute of it. I usually asked for aromatherapy maI feel energized for several days after a massage.

What is a Swedish Massage?

The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

Swedish massage was developed in the 1700’s by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling.

Purpose of Swedish Massage

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.

Swedish Massage Techniques

Swedish massage techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions. The usually sequence of techniques are:

1. Effleurage:  Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips
2. Petrissage:  Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingers
3. Friction:  Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers
4. Vibration:  Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body
5. Percussion:  Brisk hacking or tapping
6. Passive and active movements:  Bending and stretching

Benefits of Swedish Massage

Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.

cashflow101-300x199 CashFlow 101

CashFlow 101 is an educational board game that teaches you the basics of fundamental investing and how to take control of your personal finances, build a business through proper cash flow management, and learn how to invest with greater confidence in real estate and other businesses. CashFlow 101 was created for the sole purpose of teaching financial literacy, be a master of money and elevate the people’s financial IQ. It was invented by best selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki.

During the game, you can invest in stock market, buy properties, trade, be a broker, and lend at the bank using paper money. Anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of money is an extremely simple and fun way.

There are two stages to the game. In the first, “the rat race”, the player aims to raise his or her character’s passive income level to where it exceeds the character’s expenses. The winner is determined in the second stage, “the fast track”. To win, a player must get his or her character to buy their “dream” or accumulate an additional $50,000 in monthly cash flow.

In place of “score cards”, there are financial statements. The game requires the players to fill out their own financial statements so that they can see more clearly what is happening with their money. It generally shows how assets generate income and demonstrates that liabilities and ‘doodads’ are expenses.

I attended the Think Rich Pinoy last August 16, 2008 and I enjoyed the CashFlow 101 game. I played the role of Airline Pilot, so I have bigger salary but then I’m scared to take risks in investing and I had a baby during the game, and I had lots of doodads or expenses. So I wasnt able to get out of the rat race. But it is a very good game, I can apply what I have learned from it in real life.

steam-gourmet Steam Gourmet
One of my bestfriends now in the kitchen is my Steam Gourmet.
It’s the healthiest, cleanest, most delicious and effortless way to cook 3 dishes at the same time.

Steam gourmet improves on the age-old art of steam cooking from the orient, making it easier and faster.

It’s so simple! Just fill the base with water, pop on the food, and adjust the timer. The steam gourmet will do the rest.

The innovative steam system uniformly and continuously circulates the steam through the three container levels.

Ensuring the fast, even cooking of 3 wonderful dishes at the same time.

steamg4 Steam Gourmet

It’s perfect for preparing a wide variety of food.

Fish… franks… crabs… chicken… pork… seafood… pasta… all steamed in a matter of minutes.

Steaming is the ideal way to maintain the natural juices, aroma and flavors of the food. Delicious!

That steamed seafood will be moist and mouth-matering, with the essential elements all preserved.

And veggies come out tender and cooked just right.

When you boil food, the vitamins and minerals get lost in the water.

But the steam gourmet does not boil or burn away vitamins. It will keep all the natural and healthy goodness of the food.

Fried foods make you fat, and you get that unpleasant smoke and smell in the kitchen!

But with the steam gourmet, cooking is so much easier, cleaner, and healthier.

In minutes, you’ll have healthy, delicious potatoes the way they should be: firm on the outside and tender inside.

You’ll have a nice meal ready in a few minutes.

I’m so happy with my Steam Gourmet that its always in my dining table, where I can just put my favorite greens and vegetables, and in less than 5 minutes, I already have my healthy meal.

ultimate-chopper2 Ultimate Chopper

Hey girls and ladies, I found a new bestfriend in the kitchen, the Ultimate Chopper. I saw this on TV shopping and I got interested and ordered it.

The Ultimate Chopper is a compact, single-speed food processor that can also function as a blender when an optional attachment is used with the base. The product is comprised of a white base unit with a 600 watt motor (750 watts peak power), a plastic blade assembly that contains two stainless steel blades, a chopping bowl, and a clear, interlocking lid. The name Ultimate Chopper is stamped on the products base. The optional blender attachment is sold separately.

Finally, something that has the power of the big guys but it’s so easy, convenient and compact; you’ll actually use it every day for everything. Whip up everything from quick snacks to complete meals in a fraction of the time. 1-2-3 pulses is all it takes to chop onions, grate cheese, mince herbs, grind coffee, whip shakes, puree frozen foods, or even crush ice.

The Ultimate Chopper is really four machines in one!
A Food Processor, a Standing Mixer, a Coffee Grinder and an Ice Cream Maker.

Grates, chops, grinds, purees, dices, and minces almost anything.

And the machine is safe - it won’t start without the protective lid in place. The large power pad offers maximum control.

I am not a vain person but just lately I felt that my facial skin looks haggard, tired, and I look older. I can see blackheads and dirt in my nose. So I went to a facial care clinic and inquired about  Diamond Peel.

The Diamond Peel MicroDermabrasion skin treatment is a gentle and yet effective resurfacing treatment performed by vacuuming across the surface of the skin, removing the upper most layers and unveiling a smoother, clearer and more youthful appearance.  It reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and acne scaring.

Diamond Peel is fast and pain free, leaving little or no redness because it uses “micro” Diamond Head  and works only on the epidermal layer of the skin.

Diamond Peel is very effective in treatment of:

* aging and sun damaged skin
* acne scaring and acne skin
* pigmentation marks
* minimizing stretch marks
* scars and age spots
* enlarged pores
* hard to treat lips and character line
* skin and body rejuvenation

The Diamond Peel is based on Salon technology.
• The impressive results are seen after just one session.
• it improves skin texture and pigmentation as well as deep cleansing your pores, giving you a visibly glowing complexion.
• it encourages the renewal of cell tissue helping to rejuvenate the skin’s surface
• it can be used on the face, body, hands and even feet to remove dead, dry or flaking skin cells.

What is the machine used for Diamond Peeling?
Peeling machine that peels dead corneous layer of skin surface using thin sharpened diamonds.
It peels skin using vacuum pressure and as sebum is sucked along with peeled skin, skin becomes clean
and flexible.

As no anesthesia is required, there’s no chemical reaction or side effects. No pain, no bleeding and instance effect. After a diamond peel, my skin has just been newly exfoliated and resurfaced fresh new skin layers.. in addition to exfoliation, my skin has been given some nourishment that need to stay on the skin for a while for best results.

Ladies nowadays can’t leave their homes without a shoulder bag, or a hand bag or a purse bag. It is a must for us to bring our “kikay” kit which includes haircomb or hairbrush, powder, small mirror, lipstick or lip shiner, or any other beauty product, hankies, and fan. I believe  a lady has 1 or more bags in her closet. Its not easy to maintain the quality of a ladies bag if we are not careful in how we store them.

I’m glad to find this Bag Rack in Department Store now, it’s perfect answer for storing, displaying, and organizing handbags. Just place the handles behind each hook. Each hook is double stitch for added strength. Attach to top and bottom of door and use the adjustment buckle to tighten. It can be mounted to the wall, too. It holds up to 18 bags.

I was not in a good mood on that day when me and my partner went to Glorieta Mall in Makati.  As we walk around and do some window shopping, I saw a beautiful Earrings Rack.  I have a collection of beadworks and fashion earrings, and for some time, I have been looking for an Earrings Box, or anything where I can keep my collection.  When I saw this thing, it really changed my mood. I was holding it, thinking if  I would buy it or not, when my special partner came closer and asked me if I like it.  And of course, I said yes, I have been looking for an earring tray but i couldnt find something as beautiful as this. So without anymore hesitation, we went to the cashier and he paid for it.  We went back to Hotel Intercon and had dinner with a beautiful smile on my face.

Whenever I pass by in Roxas Blvd. Manila, I always see the big billboard about the new Manila Ocean Park.  I got  curious about it so when I had a free afternoon, me and my partner went around the place and enjoyed our free time like children. The Manila Ocean Park is an 8,000 square meters oceanarium in Manila, Philippines. It is owned by China Oceanis Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of China Oceanis Inc., a Singaporean-registered firm that has operated four oceanariums in China. Its easy to find it because its located at the back of the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park. The entrance fee for adults is 400 pesos and for kids 350 pesos. It opens everyday from 9am - 9pm.

Upon entering, I was amazed at the man-made waterfalls in a mini-rainforest setting with green trees, and wooden stairs which lead us to the next section of the park. Its relaxing to see waterfalls in the middle of the city, for the next 1 hour of my life I forgot the noise of the city, and I enjoyed the sight and sound of the water and different sea creatures.

The highlight of the trip is The Tunnel - a 25-meter walk along an underwater tunnel and we saw how marine animals interact with each other in their natural habitat It’s a tunnel high enough for an adult to stand, with water surrounding it that you feel you’re under the sea.

Other attractions :
The Park’s other attraction includes a multimedia exhibit/activity hall where children can participate in art/craft activities that aims to educate them in the importance to taking care of our marine environment. There are also a shark and an octopus mascots to keep the kids entertained.

The fish spa – another attraction on the park is this latest spa craze. On the second floor of the park you get to soak you feet in a pool filled with “doctor fish”, these fish feeds on dead skins cells of your feet and the whole process is pain free although you might feel a tingling sensation when they “feed on” you. Although it costs P100/person is a great way of relaxing your tired feet from all that walking plus it’s educational and a great bonding experience

There is also a souvenir shop at the end of the tour. Other sections of the park are still under construction like the mall and the hotel that is said to open late this year. There is a restaurant and some food stalls in the second floor if ever you get thirsty or hungry.

After our M.O.P. (Manila Ocean Park) adventure, we went straight to Mall of Asia and we had our dinner there.

cruising-combo-vertical-w300x450-1-200x300 Carnival Cruise LinesEvery seafarer like me dreams of working on big cruise ships. Aside from getting bigger income and tips, I can see the world for free. But working on big ships takes a lot of hard work and patience as well. During my last contract, I have been with one of the biggest cruise company, the Carnival Cruise Lines.

Carnival Cruise Lines is a cruise line operating a large number of cruise ships. It originally was an independent company founded in 1972 by Ted Arison. It is now a branded division within Carnival Corporation & plc, a publicly traded company with Micky Arison as the Chairman. Carnival Corporation & plc owns a number of different cruise lines and has become the largest corporation in the cruise industry. Carnival and its affiliates Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, Costa Cruises and the Yachts of Seabourn; are branded by the company as the World’s Leading Cruise Lines.

Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of cheaper and shorter cruises. Its ships are known for their Las Vegas-style decor and entertainment. The line calls its ships The Fun Ships and there is a wide range of activities offered on board. Its trademark is the smoke stack, or funnel, which is red, white and blue and shaped like a whale’s tail. The mascot for Carnival is “Fun Ship Freddy”, a character in the shape of Carnival’s distinctive funnel.

In 1996 the Carnival Destiny of 101,000 gross tons became the largest passenger ship in the world at the time. As of 2007, the latest and largest ship in the Carnival Fleet is the Carnival Freedom, a Conquest Class ship and Carnival’s second ship to be based in Europe. The company announced three new ships in early 2007: the Carnival Splendor, to debut July 2, 2008, the Carnival Dream, set to debut in October 2009, and the Carnival Magic, set to debut in June 2011.

Thomson Spirit

Thomson Holidays operates its own cruise line, Thomson Cruises, that offers low-price cruises around Europe with ships chartered from Louis Cruise Lines and Holland America Line. The company had initially entered the cruise market in 1973, but due to rising fuel costs the venture was terminated in 1976. In 1995, Thomson restarted their cruise line after their competitor Airtours had a made a successful entry in the cruise business under their Sun Cruises brand.
