Whenever I pass by in Roxas Blvd. Manila, I always see the big billboard about the new Manila Ocean Park.  I got  curious about it so when I had a free afternoon, me and my partner went around the place and enjoyed our free time like children. The Manila Ocean Park is an 8,000 square meters oceanarium in Manila, Philippines. It is owned by China Oceanis Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of China Oceanis Inc., a Singaporean-registered firm that has operated four oceanariums in China. Its easy to find it because its located at the back of the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park. The entrance fee for adults is 400 pesos and for kids 350 pesos. It opens everyday from 9am - 9pm.

Upon entering, I was amazed at the man-made waterfalls in a mini-rainforest setting with green trees, and wooden stairs which lead us to the next section of the park. Its relaxing to see waterfalls in the middle of the city, for the next 1 hour of my life I forgot the noise of the city, and I enjoyed the sight and sound of the water and different sea creatures.

The highlight of the trip is The Tunnel - a 25-meter walk along an underwater tunnel and we saw how marine animals interact with each other in their natural habitat It’s a tunnel high enough for an adult to stand, with water surrounding it that you feel you’re under the sea.

Other attractions :
The Park’s other attraction includes a multimedia exhibit/activity hall where children can participate in art/craft activities that aims to educate them in the importance to taking care of our marine environment. There are also a shark and an octopus mascots to keep the kids entertained.

The fish spa – another attraction on the park is this latest spa craze. On the second floor of the park you get to soak you feet in a pool filled with “doctor fish”, these fish feeds on dead skins cells of your feet and the whole process is pain free although you might feel a tingling sensation when they “feed on” you. Although it costs P100/person is a great way of relaxing your tired feet from all that walking plus it’s educational and a great bonding experience

There is also a souvenir shop at the end of the tour. Other sections of the park are still under construction like the mall and the hotel that is said to open late this year. There is a restaurant and some food stalls in the second floor if ever you get thirsty or hungry.

After our M.O.P. (Manila Ocean Park) adventure, we went straight to Mall of Asia and we had our dinner there.
