October 25, 2008 when my only Lolo or grandfather passed away from old age and complications of prostate cancer with bone metastasis.
He was 82. He is Rafael C. Tan Jr. of Catbalogan Samar.

It was first time in our family to have funeral service for our loved one. Knock on the wood!!!
It was Saturday in subic when I found out that our Lolo has passed away in our province Samar. He was with my Lola and my Mama. And immediately all family members were contacted and everybody came home to Samar. It was a very touching reunion, my Uncle and Auntie from Australia and Singapore came home too.

All grandchildren enjoyed their first flight to Tacloban and it was also a good experience for the grandchildren because it was their first time to go home to province and find out more about their roots and family. The wake was done in St. Peters Funeral Home, Catbalogan Samar branch. And he was buried in the Catbalogan Public cemetery on Oct. 30 at a rainy afternoon.

My Last Christmas Picture with My Hardworking Lolo

Let me say Thank You to all our aunts, cousins, teachers, Knights of Columbus and friends from Catbalogan Samar, from Eastern Samar,  Gandara Samar, from Tacloban and Manila and to everybody who have visited and showed their last respect and love to my Lolo. Thank you also to everybody who have walked with us from the funeral home to church to cemetery even if it was raining cats and dogs last October 30. The family really appreciate it so much and we felt the love of everyone for our Lolo.

We Love you Lolo. We know you’re happy and at peace as Auntie Emma and your grandson Adrian saw you in their vision. You made it Lolo!
